We’re excited to announce a new content partnership between Steady On Your Feet and falls prevention expert, Professor Dawn Skelton. The partnership will see a new page added to the staying active library from our Steady On Your Feet platforms, live across the UK.
The page will be dedicated to Evidence-Based Exercises and feature videos developed by Professor Dawn Skelton, a renowned expert in falls prevention and healthy ageing at Glasgow Caledonian University. These videos offer users a selection of evidence-based exercises designed to help improve strength, balance, and confidence.
Staying active is one of the most important things you can do to reduce your risk of falling and maintain your independence. The videos are part of the Staying Active section of the Steady On Your Feet library, offering practical support, advice, and video resources to help users stay active and support healthy ageing at home, featuring videos from existing partners, including Move it or Lose it and We Are Undefeatable.
Professor Dawn Skelton is Professor of Ageing and Health at Glasgow Caledonian University and Director of Later Life Training. With decades of experience in falls research and rehabilitation, her work has helped shape national guidelines and inspired thousands of older adults to stay active, independent, and safe.
We’re proud to partner with Professor Skelton to bring her expertise directly to users of the Steady On Your Feet platform.
The new page features a short Introduction and an Exercise Level Test video to help users determine which level is most suitable for them. From there, they can choose from three progressive Strength and Balance exercise videos – all carefully designed for different levels of ability and mobility.
These videos are evidence-based, practical, and created specifically for older adults who want to improve their physical confidence at home.
This new content is now being made available across regional platforms. The Devon region has already gone live with the new page, adding a locally produced video from their FAME team in Plymouth to offer even more tailored support for their community.
We encourage all regions to integrate the new page into their regional platforms and, where possible, enhance it with local content to meet the specific needs of their users.
The Evidence-Based Exercises page is now live on our staging demo platform.
If you are interested in discussing how Steady On Your Feet can help with your falls prevention strategy and public health campaign, please get in touch to discuss.
We would like to acknowledge the original content resource: fallsassistant.org.uk and thank Professor Dawn Skelton for granting permission to share her videos.
