A free online falls prevention service is now available to residents across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire.
Steady on Your Feet BSW brings together clear advice, short self assessments and personalised action plans to help people stay safe, confident and independent.
Falls are one of the leading causes of injury among older adults. Across the region, hundreds of people attend hospital every month following a fall, affecting not just individuals but families and communities.
The service encourages people to take action early. Users answer a small number of straightforward questions and receive tailored advice on topics such as balance, home safety and staying active.
Where the service has already been in use, most people say they feel more confident about managing their risk, and many report they have not fallen since completing the assessment.
Steady on Your Feet is designed to be accessible to everyone. It uses plain language, avoids medical jargon, and can be used by individuals, carers and family members alike.
Becci Arthur, Integrated Falls Pathway Lead at Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Community Health, said: “Steady on Your Feet is about helping people continue to live full, independent lives. By making this service available across the region, we’re giving more residents access to practical support that fits into everyday life.”
Residents and professionals are encouraged to share the service widely and help spread the message that falls are not inevitable and can often be prevented.
Steady on Your Feet BSW is delivered in partnership by Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Community Health, Bath and North East Somerset Council, Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire Council. The programme is funded by the Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board.
